This first training workshop was very well received and has created a big interest in further training activities within different institutions in Myanmar. A second 2-day Blue Planning in Practice training was already held from 8th to 9th February 2018 at the Central Forestry Development Training Center (CFDTC). 20 Forest Rangers from five coastal regions all over Myanmar participated in the training.

The training aimed to equip the participants with valuable skills and knowledge for on-going and future MSP processes. In detail, course participants discussed how to balance interests of different stakeholders, become aware of barriers as well as enabling factors of Blue Planning approaches, and finally, to define steps for their own strategies to overcome those challenges.

Further insights were provided by covering elements such as the identification of need and process design, analyzing current and future conditions, organizing stakeholder participation as well as drafting the spatial management plan.

The training represents a further important step towards the Government of Myanmar developing a MSP plan by 2021.
