The conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity for the benefit of the poor and for human well-being is one of the priority areas of German development policy. GIZ implements projects around the globe that support partners in implementing the CBD Strategic Plan for Biodiversity.

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
UNEP is the voice for the environment within the United Nations system. UNEP´s mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.

Blue Solutions is coordinated by Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and implemented in partnership with the Norwegian foundation and UNEP Collaborating Centre GRID-Arendal, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Freshwater and Marine Ecosystems Branch of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNE). We work in close collaboration with national and regional marine and coastal biodiversity projects in developing countries all over the world.

Blue Solutions is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) through its International Climate Initiative (ICI).
