Our next webinar will take place on July 27, 4:00 to 5:30 PM CET and is organized in cooperation with the GIZ Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector Project. The session will provide an overview on fisheries certification with a focus on discussing its applicability for small-scale fisheries. Audun Lem, Deputy-Director of the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department will give a keynote speech on fisheries certification. Hoyt Peckham will present the SmartFish solution on reducing overfishing and improving the livelihoods of artisanal fishers in Mexico. Camila Zambrano Esguerra, Fondo Acción will highlight the key success factors of the EcoGourmet project, which sensitizes small-scale fishermen as well as consumers about sustainable fisheries.
During the Blue Solutions webinar, great PANORAMA solutions will feature in the exchange, among them inspiring examples from Indonesia and Madagascar. For this webinar, we will showcase how marine ecosystem service information can be used in conservation and sustainable development decision making. In adddition to a presentation from Nicola Beaumont of Plymouth Marine Laboratory, two Blue Solutions case studies will be featured: Esther Wolfs, Wolfs Comapny will share details on her solution “Nature’s contribution to the economy” from Bonaire and Samir Rosado, Belize Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute will share his experiences from Belize: “Mapping and valuing ecosystem services for integrated management”.

The Blue Solutions project and the Panorama initiative provide global platforms to assemble and promote knowledge on successful approaches, tools and processes, focusing on what works why and how. These solutions have proven their success and inspire others to replicate and adapt them.
On 3 February 2015 Blue Solutions and Panorama conducted their first webinar in cooperation with OpenChannels to explain this solutions approach and provide guidance on how to document solutions. The webinar was timed to support “solution providers” in preparation for the upcoming “Regional Forum on Solutions for Oceans, Coasts and Human Wellbeing in Latin America and the Wider Caribbean Region”, as well as in the follow-up of the IUCN World Parks Congress.
